Online Payments & Getting Paid

Getting paid online for your goods or services is a vital part of online ecommerce.

Most online stores start out using PayPal which is a well known online payment processor. PayPal payment modules are included in the Zen Cart software

When selling online don’t forget to include transaction fees into your sales margins. PayPal’s current fees are 2.9% of the sale value. e.g that would work out to 59p on a £10 sale.

Not all customers want to pay for their goods using PayPal and would rather pay by credit/debit card directly.

Getting approval to accept credit cards online was once a lengthy and complicated process requiring you to obtain a Merchant Account (usually via your bank) and then setting up a payment gateway on your website.

Today there’s a wide range of online gateways available such as Square, Stripe, SagePay, Amazon Pay, and Google Checkout that will enable you to accept credit and debit cards on your website without a complicated application process and without needing a Merchant Account.

Zenned customer’s preference is to use Square
which is included in the Zen Cart software, no complicated application, just sign up with Square and install the Square Web Pay payment module.

Transaction Fees at Square are 1.9% for European cards and 2.9% for non-European cards.
